Seed Funding for the Arts: Bringing Global Voices to Haddonfield’s Children

Children Song of New Jersey

The Haddonfield Foundation exists to nurture and amplify the power of local giving—providing vital “seed money” to grassroots initiatives that enrich life in Haddonfield and strengthen civic bonds.

Through its grantmaking, the Foundation makes possible countless educational, cultural, and community-driven projects that might otherwise lack support—serving as a catalyst for ideas and energy rooted right here in our borough.

ChildrenSong of New Jersey’s proposal aligns directly with the Foundation’s vision. By bringing Moira Smiley’s workshop to Haddonfield, this project will deliver world-class vocal pedagogy, inclusive community building, and cross-cultural musical engagement to local youth. Because two-thirds of ChildrenSong’s participants are Haddonfield residents, this initiative ensures the Foundation’s impact remains precisely where it is intended—within the community’s own borders.

With funding from the Haddonfield Foundation, ChildrenSong can underwrite workshop fees and expand access so as many students as possible—regardless of financial means—may enroll. In return, the workshop will culminate in a public performance where singers will don shirts recognizing the Foundation’s support, visibly linking the Foundation’s generosity to community pride and local arts.

By supporting this grant, the Foundation continues its legacy of investing in projects that start small but resonate broadly. In doing so, it empowers local organizations to be creative, bold, and rooted in Haddonfield—strengthening our town’s nonprofit landscape and deepening the connections among neighbors through shared arts and culture.
